Parish Supper: Our next Parish Supper will be on Saturday, June 3 at 5:30pm. (Please note the change in date.) The meal will be your choice of grilled steak tips or boneless stuffed Chicken Breast. We will begin with a Venus de Milo style Minestrone Soup and end with assorted desserts from parishioners. Tickets are on sale after Mass or in the rectory. We will prepare the food and the hall on the Saturday of the Supper at 9am.
Annual Catholic Charities Appeal: May 1st marks the beginning of the 76th annual Catholic Charities Appeal in the Fall River Diocese. Proceeds from the campaign provide the funding for the charitable services and programs sponsored by the Fall River Diocese to help respond to those with spiritual and material needs in Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the Islands. For more information about the Appeal including on on-line donations visit the Catholic Charities Appeal Web site click here.
A Biblical Walk Through the Mass: On five consecutive Thursdays from June 8 to July 6 St John of God Parish will sponsor a course to examine the meaning of the Mass from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. We will use a video titled “A Biblical Walk through the Mass” developed by Ascension Press. In the videos, Dr Edward Sri, who teaches at the Augustine Institute, explains the biblical foundation of what we say and do in the Mass. The class will be conducted by Fr. Babiczuk, and will also involve table discussion. There is no charge for the class, but there is a book of the same title that you should buy that accompanies the videos. The book can be ordered from Amazon.com either in paper back or in the Kindle Edition. This book can only be purchased in limited quantities, thus each person should purchase their own from Amazon. There is a registration form for the course on the two bulletin boards. You can also print the form by clicking here.
