Parish Suppers
Luncheon to Benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital
The first Saturday of December the Parish has a benefit Luncheon with all proceeds minus expenses going to the St. Jude Children's Hospital. This luncheon was started by Fr. Lagoa because he had a great devotion to the work of the Hospital. This luncheon is done in conjunction with the Swansea Community Band who provide holiday music before and after the meal. This luncheon is a complete turkey dinner. If you would like to donate a turkey to help defray the cost of the meal please call the rectory. If you are unable to attend the meal, but would like to make a monitory donation to the help the hospital please mail it to the rectory, or place it in the basket in a clearly market envelope.
Holy Ghost Suppers
The Holy Ghost society sponsors two or three Parish Suppers each year. Cooking and serving is done by members of the Society. Take-out is welcome. There is always a D.J. for entertainment. Entrees always consist roast chicken from Chaves Market in Fall River. The other entree is always Portuguese such as Shrimp Mozambique. More information about the date and menu of the Holy Ghost Suppers can be found in the bulletin, or on the Parish Home Page. All proceeds from these Suppers benefit the Parish. ,
Monthly Suppers
In additions to the Holy Ghost Suppers the Parish has a variety of Suppers during the year not only as fund raisers, but also to build community. These Suppers are held monthly except for those months that we have another major fund raiser such as the Parish Feast in July or a Holy Ghost dinner. On the last Sunday before Christmas we have a Parish Christmas concert in the Church followed by a Dinner in the Hall. In the Fall we we have an International Dinner with food from four nations and International music. In the dead of the Winter we have our Parish "Soup-per-Bowl" in which we have over 20 homemade Soups from parishioners, freshly baked bread, and desserts from Parishioners. We also have a Parish Clam boil in the early Summer before the Fourth of July. Follow the Parish bulletin for information about our monthly Suppers.
Lenten Kitchen
On the Fridays of Lent our Kitchen is open from 4:00-6:30 PM to eat-in or take-out. In addition to fried and baked fish we have other Lenten fare such as Stuffed Shrimp, Bacalhau Gomes de Sa', Lobster Ravioli, and chowder 'n clam cakes. Information about the Lenten kitchen can be found on the home page of the Parish web site, and in the Parish bulletin. Let us do the cooking for you on the Fridays of Lent. Think about have Supper in the Hall, and then going upstairs for the Stations of the Cross which are held on Fridays as well.
