The Sacrament of Reconciliation
Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained. (John 20:23)
The sacrament of Reconciliation is a sacrament of healing because it reconciles us with God through his merciful love and forgiveness of our sin. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the sacrament of Reconciliation is known by many names (the sacrament of conversion, Penance, confession or forgiveness) because it offers all of those things. It is the sacrament of conversion because it turns us back toward God. It is the sacrament of Penance because it consecrates our remorse for having sinned. It is the sacrament of confession because of our disclosure of sin to a priest. And it is the sacrament of forgiveness because of the sacramental absolution God grants through the priest. (CCC 1422-1424)
We have a Penance Service for Advent and Lent with individual confession. It is sponsored by the six Parishes of Swansea and Somerset. The location rotates between the Parishes. Please refer to the bulletin for the date and location. The Penance Service is a fitting way to prepare for Christmas or Easter.
We have a Reconciliation room in the front of the Church near the vesting room. When you walk into the front doors take a left and the Reconciliation room is on the left. It allows one to receive the sacrament either "face to face" or behind a screen. Your choice.
Times of Reconciliation

Below is a common Act of Contrition.
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven, and the pains of hell;
but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.
